If I calculated all the hours I’ve spent editing over the last three years… well, you’d think I wouldn’t have had time for anything else. And the truth is, I didn’t. I was miserable, spending many late nights at the computer, frustrated because none of the post-processing on my sessions was just “it.”
I’d apply preset after preset, adjusting every slider and never gettin’ it quite right; (or at least not what I wanted and had envisioned during the shoot.) The images were beautiful, don’t get me wrong. But, they needed that finishing touch, the icing on the cake, the cherry on the pina colada, the ranch on the pizza (or is that just me?)…
Then, one day, pixie dust exploded and champagne popped. I FINALLY found a process in which I could literally edit entire wedding galleries in one day. Actually, three hours. Guys, I GOT MY LIFE BACK. They say time is valuable, and I couldn’t agree more. Time is money and energy, (and to be honest, I wanted to give more of it to my husband than I was.)
The day I developed a style I truly loved, and created a simple process in Lightroom to achieve that result, was the day the game changed. No more strugglin’ with every session, trying to decide how to edit it, running through 100+ presets that don’t quite fit it, OR spending hundreds of dollars on MORE presets… because “maybe this preset pack will be right,” (even though I knew in the back of my mind I’d be in this same position again soon.) I know without a doubt these presets will achieve my desired style, every single time. Bidi bada BOOM baby.
It took me forever to figure out what my editing style was. “Should I follow a trend? Was I drawn to bright and airy, or dark and moody? Did I want vibrant, contrasty and colorful?” I won’t lie, I dabbled in every single editing style out there. (Which you SHOULD!) By doing so, I was able to find a style that I came back to every single time, and I can finally say, whole-heartedly, that I LOVE IT.
If you’re a fan of organic, earthy tones with smushed, magenta-toned highlights, slightly desaturated greens with a teal tint (but still realistic,) and overall warmth with fabulous, natural skin tones, then these are for you! Seriously, you won’t regret it.
P.S. – If you’re on the verge of purchasing, but can’t quite decide if they will be for you, email me a dropbox link to a few of your favorite images and I’ll edit them for you with them! I believe in them THAT much! <3
